Throughout lockdown our little guy got so used to sleeping in his cot that I didn’t think he’d actually sleep anywhere else. But sure enough, every day he’s down at the beach with us, having his lunch in the sand and then a long sleep under the umbrella, with the real life white noise of the ocean playing in the background 🌊☀️ @vinniestanderr

That place for me is Costa Rica’s Osa Peninsula. When you’re there, Mother Nature reminds you, in the most beautiful way possible, that you are just a tiny thread in a much greater tapestry 💛 The full piece is over on their site and I’ve also linked it in my profile.

Yesterday we took a drive up to West Head for a sh Yesterday we took a drive up to West Head for a short hike. The whole time I kept thinking about how lucky Sydneysiders are to have such easy access to tracks like this, many of which most of us probably don’t even know about. This one was a short loop via Resolute and West Head beaches and it was stunning. It was pretty cold yesterday so we didn’t swim, but if the weather was warmer you could jump in midway. I wouldn’t say it’s a secluded spot, but the nature is exquisite and the circuit is only about a 1.5 hour walk so (while steep!) it’s very doable with kids too. It was a perfectly spent first Mother’s Day :)
I was so torn this week to learn that @carriagewor I was so torn this week to learn that @carriageworks had gone into voluntary administration. I’m hopeful they’ll find a way to save this special centre which is such an important place for the arts, culture, community and creativity. I’ve enjoyed so many weekends there, from days spent at the farmers market (pictured, with a bunch of wattle the same size as me🌼) to the Sydney Writer’s Festival. Even before Covid Sydney could have done with a greater injection of culture. So it’s devastating to think that of the few fantastic arts institutions we do have, some won’t make it through this pandemic. If you like the arts, and you’re able to, please please please support your favourite cultural organisations now so we can come out the other end of all of this and still be able to feel the pulse of the arts in our city. Some of them are offering online streams so you could support by buying tickets, or you could consider making a donation to help keep them up and running. If you’d like some ideas, here are a few of my favourites: @sydwritersfest, @mca_australia, @belvoirst, @griffintheatre, The Old Fitz via @redline__productions, @sydneytheatreco 🙏🏻
