Berry cafe-ing

I recently drove down to Berry to escape the city for a few days, breath in the country air and sample some good food.

It’s such a quaint little village with old weatherboard cottages lining the streets, and the fact the beautiful beaches of the South Coast are so close by is a bonus.

For a small town I was especially impressed with the number of great cafes we visited and wanted to share a few I enjoyed…

/ Berry Sourdough Cafe

This little spot is the sweetest. Housed in a heritage-listed building, it has a rustic farm-like vibe. Central wood fired ovens bake their selection of sourdough each day and the food is simple, local and seasonal. They also have a great little bakery on the main street in town which is definitely worth a visit.

/ Queen Street Eatery

It’s a French inspired restaurant and bar serving everything from bircher muesli and Croque Monsier for breakfast, to oysters, grilled prawns and french fries for lunch. I also loved the design here and the contrast of white, vibrant finishes with an exposed tin roof.

/ The Garden Berry

The name says it – join them in the garden for breakfast and a coffee or a sun-filled afternoon of G&T’s and live music. The food is great, as is the coffee, and they also have artwork available for purchase throughout the space.
