Anyone who knows me well, will be able to vouch for my healthy addiction to flowers. And as far as flowers go, it’s not often you find a florist so simple and well done, like Harper & Tom’s in London’s Notting Hill.
At any given point, you will find at least one bunch of fresh flowers in my home – they just make me happy. So it won’t come as a shock that I am somewhat particular when it comes to florists. For me, it’s not just about grabbing any old bunch that I see and putting them in a vase – I like to make my florist-run an experience. I find a florist that I love, walk there on my saturday – usually with a coffee – and take my time to put together my own selection for the coming week. I can be painfully slow putting my arrangements together and depending on how I’m feeling my flower choice changes quite significantly from week-to-week, but it’s a little something I like to call “heidi” time and it’s just one of those things I like to do.
When I was living in Notting Hill, Harper & Tom’s was my florist of choice. I would visit at least once a week – usually more – and it became a special part of my weekly regime. I still miss it now, and will always visit each time I go back to London. It’s very small and simple, no fuss and none of the trimmings that usually come hand-in-hand with florists – cellophane, tacky ribbon etc. It’s just gorgeous and earthy and if you love flowers as much as me, it’s definitely worth a visit!
