In a city not celebrated for it’s cuisine, finding a good wholesome salad in Amsterdam can be an arduous task. Now back on Australian soil – and spoilt with a nourishing salad bar on every corner – it’s hard to cast my mind back just a few months, when (tired of herring and bitterballen) I would traipse the canals of my much-loved city in search of a healthy alternative. After clocking up the km’s by foot and by fiets (bicycle) I finally found my answer…SLA.
Fresh, organic and packed with flavour, SLA is Amsterdam’s one-stop spot for hearty and healthy salads, juices, soups and snacks. Striking a balance between quality, locality and the seasons, everything at SLA is made of the purest ingredients.
While you will most probably wait in line with a hungry health-craving crowd, it’s worth the wait. There’s a total of five locations throughout Amsterdam where you can indulge your ‘create-your-own’ salad fix, choosing from a selection of greens, grains, veggies and proteins.
The clean and crisp décor matches the freshness of the food, with a colour palate of white and mint-green, hanging pot-plants throughout and the odd splash of modern neon pink lighting, it’s the ultimate casual dining oasis.
An overall wholesome and feel-good spot for dine-in or takeaway, make sure you visit one of the SLA eateries when in Amsterdam!
